Not the end of the world, but my world is up side down !

Found out a week ago today that I am diabetic. It was a shock went by my Drs. Office to get results of labs on my way out of town to My. Dora for a long weekend. I really expected everything to be normal. So this past week my life has been turned upside down. I am having to plan my Easter menu a little different this year, I will not be able to eat all the things I normally prepare and that my family loves. I am also worried about them becoming diabetic as well. I still have more test to have and praying that they do not turn up anything else.

  1. You will be fine if you follow the Dr's instructions and talk to a Diabetic clinic. I was on medication and had to go off because my kidneys were acting up. I have cut out most of my carbs - stay with 20 a day and my tests are fine each morning. Just start looking at the number of carbs on each and everything. Hopefully you have type 2 which is much better than 1.
Have a wonderful Easter with your family.

  2. Oh Elizabeth! This must have been a shock and I am sorry. I'm praying that you'll be encouraged that things will work out and that God will lead you as you learn a new lifestyle. It won't be easy, but with Grace it will be doable. I know you can do this! Again, I'm praying... Hugs, Debra

  3. I canonly imagine the shock. But my dad was diabetic, but kept it under control strictly by diet, and of course MAMA!
I know it is hard to wait. We are not patient, us humans. But waiting for further results may set your life back to normal. Of course it is not the end of the world, and hopefully it is only a wake-up call.

  4. I have several friends that are diabetic and for the most part are able to keep it under control with diet. It seems they eat most things within reason. Limiting the amounts that they have. I too will be praying all goes well and hope you have a Happy Easter.

  7. Oh, it is so hard to make a life change! I am sorry that you have been diagnosed as diabetic. It won't be easy, but when the dust settles, I am confident that you will be able to make the needed changes and it will be the new normal for you. Please take care!

  8. I would suggest education classes for diabetes. It sure helped when Jack was diagnosed. He takes his medicines as told and we added cinnamon tablets once a day which also seem to help. We have even learned how to have the occasional treat without issue. Prayers for you
