Everything is working out. We have a buyer for our place. We found a smaller house,we love, with a smaller yard, that I really love! So why do I feel so sad. Is it normal to feel this way about leaving a place I have been so long (20) years. I feel like it is a new chapter in our lives and that we are going to be happy in this new place, but I cannot seem to shake this sad feeling about leaving here.
Changes are always a difficult thing and yes, I do think it is normal. It took me a long time to feel like my place was home after downsizing and moving from a home where my children had all grown up. Keep the positive attitude and before you know it your new place will seem just as much home as the one you are leaving.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is normal. We have only been in our home since 2007, yet when we sell in a couple years it will be tough. But focus on making the new house your home and you should do fine.
ReplyDeleteIt's tough....6 years ago when we moved to North Carolina i didn't cry until i saw the mountains...don't know if i was crying about leaving FL....forever...or i was crying for my new life....

Definitely normal, Elizabeth. I had to watch my Mom leave the home she grew up in, then married and settled there. She still misses it, but finds that you build memories in the new place. Enjoy the memories from the old, and don't try to run from the sadness...but do anticipate the memories you'll build in the new place and allow yourself to be excited! Remember, home isn't a place, but people, family; a house is only the shell where the memories were lived.
ReplyDeleteWow, good luck with everything. Hope all is going well!
